Description

James Brocklebank co-chairs the global Executive Committee of Advent, a leading international private equity firm with over $100 billion in assets under management (as at December 2025) and 16 offices in 14 countries. He is a member of the North American and European Investment Advisory Committees in which capacity he shares responsibility for selecting the investments that Advent makes across five sectors in Advent’s core regions. He co-heads the European business of Advent, and sponsors the firm’s key investor relationships in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. James is a member of the Business and Financial Services sector team and has historically focused on the payments sector, sourcing, leading and monitoring investments in multiple payment companies, many of which were carved out from large banks. He has been a board member of, inter alia, Nets, Nexi, and Worldpay. James joined Advent in 1997. James is a member of the Business Roundtable, an association of America’s leading companies, a member of the Global Board of Advisors of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), a non-partisan independent national membership organization, and chairs the Private Equity Taskforce of the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), an initiative founded by HM King Charles III to bring global private sector CEOs together to support sustainable initiatives rooted in value-creation. He is also a member of the Advisory Council of Level20, an initiative set up to promote diversity within the European private equity industry. Prior to Advent, between 1992 and 1997, James worked on international mergers and acquisitions in the London office of investment bank Baring Brothers and its affiliate Dillon, Read & Co. in New York. James attended Eton College followed by Cambridge University (Magdalene College) where he received a MA in Geography. He was a keen oarsman, and represented England in the Under 16 category in 1986. James is married with 3 children. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a New Foundation Fellow of Eton College, and a Member of the Cambridge University Guild of Benefactors.
