Serge Weinberg co-founded Weinberg Capital Partners in 2005 with Philippe Klocanas.
Before embarking on a career as a corporate executive and entrepreneur, he began in various roles within the senior civil service.
In 1983, he joined the Havas Group, where he held the position of Managing Director, and later Chairman of the Executive Board of Havas Tourisme.
In 1987, Serge Weinberg was appointed Managing Director of Pallas Finance, a financial firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions. He also served as advisor to François Pinault on the acquisition of a stake in the CFAO Group.
In 1990, he joined the Pinault Group—later renamed PPR and then Kering—where he took over the management of CDME (now Rexel). There, he implemented an ambitious external growth strategy, leading more than forty acquisitions of local, often family-owned, businesses. Under his leadership, Rexel nearly doubled in size between 1991 and 1995, while also doubling its earnings and market capitalization. In 1995, he became CEO of the Pinault Group, driving its international expansion. In 1999, alongside François Pinault, he led the group’s promising entry into the luxury sector. He left the group in 2005 to found Weinberg Capital Partners.
Throughout his career, Serge Weinberg has remained deeply committed to public service. His wide-ranging engagements reflect a passion for entrepreneurship combined with a strong sense of civic duty. He is a founding member and treasurer of the Brain and Spine Institute (Institut du Cerveau et de la Moelle épinière - ICM – in French). In 2005, he established Télémaque, a foundation that awards scholarships to high-potential students from underprivileged backgrounds. In 2018, together with Denis Duverne, he launched the movement “Changer par le don” (“Change Through Giving”), aimed at promoting philanthropy.
He also takes a keen interest in geopolitical and defense issues. He authored *Armée-Nation, le rendez-vous manqué* under the pen name Serge Vignemont. He is a Commander of the Legion of Honour.
He is the former Chairman of Accor and former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sanofi.
He holds a law degree, is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris, and an alumnus of the École nationale d’administration (ENA).
