Description
Tjarko is the founder of New 2ND Capital and is responsible for firm management. Before founding New 2ND Capital, Tjarko spent 18 years at AlpInvest Partners (and its predecessors) where he founded, built, and led the firm’s secondary program, starting with a single employee and ending his tenure with approximately 25 investment professionals and more than $8.5 billion of capital invested. At AlpInvest, he also served as a member of the Operating Committee, observer on the firm’s board, and chairman of the Global Investment Committee, where he oversaw investments made by the secondary, primary funds, and co-investment groups.
Before his time at AlpInvest Partners, Tjarko was a direct private equity investor at Parnib Holding in the Netherlands. He started his career at De Nationale Investeringsbank, also in the Netherlands.
Tjarko holds an MSc in business economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam and a Dutch law degree.
Tjarko Hektor has been on the front lines of PE innovation and secondaries since the early 2000's. First as the founder of the secondaries business at AlpInvest / Carlyle in Amsterdam, New York and Hong Kong, and then as the co-founder of New 2ND Capital, the first GP-led secondaries specialist in the US in 2016. New 2ND Capital is currently investing its 3rd fund.
Tjarko is a frequent speaker on PE Secondaries, and the increasing demand of specialization in this asset class. He is opinionated and passionate about PE Secondaries and innovations in the asset class which makes him much in demand for panels, presentations and podcasts.
