Description
Ali is a partner in the External Investing Group (XIG) within Goldman Sachs Asset Management, serving as global co-head of the Petershill business, which he has led since its formation in 2007. He is chair of the XIG GP Strategies Investment Committee, directing investing in leading private-market and public-market managers as a management company investor (through the Petershill GP Stakes program) and in earlier stage private-market managers (through the Petershill Private Equity Seed Fund). Ali is a managing director ally of the LGBTQ+ Network.
Ali first joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 as an analyst in the Financial Institutions Group in the Investment Banking Division and rejoined the firm in Goldman Sachs Asset Management as a portfolio manager for the first Petershill fund in 2007. He was named managing director in 2011 and partner in 2022.
Prior to rejoining the firm, Ali was an advisory principal at Perella Weinberg Partners, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and financial institutions.
Ali earned a BA in Economics and a general honors degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar.
