We all know the problem. The backlog of companies held for more than four years stands at 16,000. That’s equivalent to 52% of total buyout-backed inventory, the highest on record. Holding periods have also hit new heights, averaging 6.6 years according to McKinsey. Something has changed about how private equity assets move through the system.
